Abstract

One of the great challenges of a social ontology centered on a theory of discourse is to reconstruct the role of linguistic practices in the constitution of all levels of society and at the same time try to develop a critical perspective on the functioning and effect of those uses that can be classified under the term "ideological". With this aim in mind, this article will present the original context in which the concept of ideology was most developed, i.e., the discussions within Marxism (I). Then (II-III) we will describe the transformations operated on this notion with the new scenario of discourse mediations. Finally (IV), an attempt will be made to schematize how this concept can continue to be used without losing the critical feature it possessed in the initial context.
