Functional diversity: Evaluation of implicit inattention
Keywords:
Functional Diversity, Disfunctionality, Autonomy, Independence, Technology, Social Moderl.Abstract
The general objective of this article is the presentation and development of a critical discourse on what would have been neglected, in relation to the social phenomenon of disability, by focusing exclusive attention on the issue of terminological impropriety. The more specific objective is to show to what extent the new proposal of “functional diversity” could exclude those people who did not conform to the ideology of the independent living social movement, leaving open the attribution of dysfunctionality to them, understood as the difficulty of developing the skills implicit in the dominant values, considered as inalienable goals, of personal independence and autonomy.
